April 21st, 2026|Action, Issues, News & Issues, Newsletter, Ohio|

Early in-person voting for the primary election is happening now and ends Sunday, May 3. Ohio's election laws have changed, so if you do not plan to vote in person on Election Day (May 5), early voting at the Clermont County Board of Elections is the most reliable way to make sure your vote counts. The the deadline for requesting absentee ballots is April 28, but that leaves very little time to complete the ballot and mail it back by May 5. Any ballots [...]

Children’s Protective Services needs our help

April 7th, 2026|Action, General News, Issues, News & Issues, Newsletter, Ohio|

The levy and why it's needed The Children's Protective Services (CPS) levy lost by 109 votes in the 2025 election. With our help, this critical levy renewal and small increase in funding -- the same proposal as last fall -- can cross the finish line on May 5. CPS is mandated by law to investigate allegations of abuse and neglect. It provides education, treatment, services, and support to families, while ensuring the care and protection of those children who are placed [...]

State Reps Adam Bird, Jean Schmidt vote for bill criminalizing people wearing wrong clothes, make-up

April 7th, 2026|Uncategorized|

The Ohio House passed the (most likely unconstitutional) "Indecent Exposure Modernization Act" almost entirely along party lines on March 25, and it now awaits consideration in the Senate. Under this HB 249, you can't wear any clothes, make-up, or other "physical markers" considered to be "opposite" of your biological gender. Not only does this bill target drag queens -- it threatens all of us because its vague and subjective language gives broad enforcement powers to police. If you think this [...]

Do you have your voting plan for May 5 primary?

March 30th, 2026|Action, General News, Issues, Ohio|

Ohio's new election law requires that absentee ballots arrive at Boards of Elections by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day. This change -- combined with the unpredictability of mail service -- makes mailing ballots in time to be counted a gamble. So, if you or your family members plan to mail in your absentee ballot, request it now and mail it in as soon as you receive it. Or, make a different plan. "My solution to the problem is to encourage people to [...]

Rep. Jean Schmidt’s new bill calls for fetal life certificates

March 24th, 2026|Action, Editorial, General News, Issues, News & Issues, Newsletter, Ohio|

If there were ever a time to pick up the phone and call Rep. Jean Schmidt, it is now. You may have thought that her most extreme claim to fame (aside from that time she jumped and down, cheering because she thought the Affordable Care Act had been overruled . . but had not ) was when she called rape "an opportunity" after Roe v. Wade was overturned. But this time, she has introduced HB 754, a bill that would require a "certificate of [...]

In Ohio, Real IDs won’t satisfy voter ID law if SAVE Act passes

March 24th, 2026|General News, Issues, News & Issues, Newsletter, Ohio|

At the time of writing, the SAVE Act has passed in the U.S. House of Representatives, and is still being debated in the U.S. Senate. Many reports suggest that there are not enough votes (60) to pass the measure, but nothing is certain. There is a huge amount of misinformation out there on the bill, and it's tough to know what's what. If you have Instagram, here you can watch a video of the Ohio State University's Associate Dean Anne Ralph explain that showing [...]
