Clermont Board of Elections earns 100% in post-election audit
Ohio law requires each county board of elections to perform a post-election audit after every statewide election. According to the Clermont County Board of Elections, its audit for the May 5 primary -- which involved going back and counting actual ballots -- showed that Clermont's official election results were 100% accurate. Grassroots pressure worked last week (but bad bills still passed)
Last week grassroots advocacy made a difference we can all see: the Ohio GOP removed its family caregiver ban from its Medicaid bill. This is great news. On the other hand, several bad bills were passed and will go to the governor's desk, like HB 472 (above); SB 219 (increases fracking in Ohio's state parks and public lands); and SB 276 (requires schools to teach "Success Sequence" with no opt-out). Showing up at Clermont County Fair builds our party
Planning is underway for our party’s participation in the Clermont County Fair, July 26–August 1. We will celebrate the United States’ 250th anniversary in both the parade and our Fair Building. Canvassing season is gearing up. The ODP Coordinated Campaign, along with CCDP, will be launching a canvas on June 6 at 10 am. Gather at the Milford Municipal Building and we will walk Milford A. Don't worry if you have never done this before; you can walk with an experience canvasser. The GOP is increasingly concerned about the purpling of Northwest Clermont. Judge Zayas swears in new CCDP leadership
Judge Marilyn Zayas, of Ohio's First District Court of Appeals, swore in elected and appointed precinct captains Tuesday night at the party's organizational meeting in Union Township. Precinct captains make up the CCDP's Central Committee, and the areas with multiple precincts choose which precinct captain will represent them in the Executive Committee. Rep. Bird leads effort to amend constitution on voter ID, includes language to pave way for in-person, election-day law
Rep. Adam Bird (OH 63) is leading the effort to amend the Ohio constitution to codify the newish voter ID law that's already in place. See his comments here. Data centers are HOT potato for citizens, politicians
Data centers are all over the national and local news. Organizers from across Ohio are collecting signatures now to get a constitutional amendment on the ballot for the November midterm election.
