As always, there is a lot going on in our community.  Join us Wednesday, Oct. 4 at our next DIA meeting to learn about all of it.

Two main topics at our Wednesday Oct 4 DIA meeting

  • Marvin Albrinca, owner of Esoteric Brewery and Loveland resident is our featured speakers. He will be speaking about building community.
  • Issue 1 updates including signs, and literature.

We gather at Pam Sisney’s house: 6323 Evergreen Lane in Loveland. As always, friends gather at 6:30 p.m.; you are welcome to bring a dish or beverage to share. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m.

Issue 1 must pass November 7.

Know three things:

  1. The amendment language what will become part of our constitution is tightly written and guarantees that we all have the right to make our own decisions relating to these five things: contraception; fertility treatment; continuing one’s own pregnancy; miscarriage care; and abortion. Read the entire amendment here.

  2. The description of the amendment you will see on the ballot is grossly inaccurate and inflammatory. Despite the concise language of the amendment itself (approved by AG Dave Yost from the very beginning), Secretary of State Frank LaRose wrote the ballot language, it was approved by the Ohio Ballot Board (GOP majority) and essentially rubber stamped by the Ohio Supreme Court. Understand and share with others that it is the ACTUAL AMENDMENT language, not the BALLOT DESCRIPTION language, that will become a part of the Ohio Constitution when it passes. That’s why it is critical that people see the actual language early and often.

  3. The other side’s strategy is to spread disinformation and lies. Issue 1 does not change existing parental rights law. Your child still needs a permission slip to get an Advil.  Who seriously believes that officials can yank a girl out of school to do any medical procedure. It’s ludicrous. Nor does Issue 1 give all people and doctors carte blanche to perform late-term abortion any time or, obviously, to commit infanticide (abortion after birth!? that’s not a thing!). It simply codifies Roe v. Wade for Ohio, at the state level.

DIA has a toolkit with talking points, graphics, amendment language, etc., in the Resources section of the DIA website. It also includes early voting schedules and voter ID requirements. Please use this as you speak with voters.
