Does the Ohio Constitution Authorize the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) to Distribute $250 Million to Public School Districts That are Not Subject to State Audit This Year?
First, all Ohio school districts are subject to state audit. Every dime must be spent legally and accounted for; and rightfully so.
However, the law authorizes ODE to distribute $250 million in voucher funds that are beyond the reach of the State Auditor. Additionally, ODE will send $70 million to private schools for administrative cost reimbursement, for which there will be no public audit. Sound moronic? You bet!
