Public School Leaders, Employees, and Advocates Should Support the Lawsuit Challenging the Constitutionality of the EdChoice Voucher Scheme, Regardless of the Severity of the Negative Impact on the Individual Districts
It is a given that school district leaders and employees have a first-line responsibility to work for and protect the interests of their own school district. School district leaders are expected to safeguard and fight for all resources available for their district. They decide for or against policy proposals, depending on a forecast of how proposals will affect their district.
The EdChoice voucher program is one that negatively affects all districts, regardless of how many students any particular district loses to the EdChoice voucher program.
Currently, vouchers are funded from the state basic aid line item. When the universal voucher bill is enacted, all districts will feel the negative effects more dramatically.
