The Ohio Democratic Party (ODP) Executive Committee unanimously voted to endorse the ‘No in August’ campaign, a grassroots campaign to stop a GOP-power grab that would effectively eliminate citizen-led ballot initiatives in Ohio. Republicans are pulling out all the stops to prevent Ohioans from having their voices heard as these GOP politicians attack abortion rights, labor rights and Ohioans’ right to fair representation.
The effort is reportedly being bankrolled by billionaire Richard Uihlein. Uihlein has a long history of donating millions to out-of-touch causes and candidates and attempting to buy elections.
“Ohio Democrats stand strong with our partners in the fight to protect citizen-led ballot initiatives in Ohio and protect Ohioans’ right to have a say in their own government. While GOP politicians try to go after abortion rights and other critical freedoms unchecked, we believe power belongs in the hands of the people, not politicians,” said ODP Chair Elizabeth Walters.
