A number of immigration-related bills are being considered now in Columbus. One bill, SB 172, would allow the arrest or detention by any federal, State, or local agent of anyone who is or is suspected of being unlawfully present in the U.S. — even without a judicial warrant. Read that again. Senator Terry Johnson voted for this bill over the summer, and now Reps. Jeanne Schmidt (614-466-8134) and Adam Bird (614-644-6043) will be voting on it soon.
