Judge Marilyn Zayas, of Ohio’s First District Court of Appeals, swore in elected and appointed precinct captains Tuesday night at the party’s organizational meeting in Union Township.
Precinct captains make up the CCDP’s Central Committee, and the areas with multiple precincts choose which precinct captain will represent them in the Executive Committee. Once sworn in, the Central Committee elected its Executive Committee officers Tuesday night: Patty Lawrence, Chair; Steve Schrader, Vice-Chair; Carol Ryan, Secretary; Rich Jordan, Treasurer; and Jocelyn Watson, Central Committee Chair.
Monthly party meetings are open to all Clermont Democrats, and are where both Central Committee and Executive Committee business takes place. If you would like to learn more about the roles of precinct captains, contact Jocelyn Watson or Patty Lawrence, as appointments happen on a rolling basis.
“I want to thank you — really thank you — for why you are here today.” Judge Zayas said that the work of the Clermont party is a critical part of the future we choose for Ohio. “This is an accountability election, and we have the wind at our backs.” Zayas reminded the group that in last month’s primary, 25% fewer Republicans came out to vote, compared with Democrats, whose voter turnout increased by 50%. She also articulated the fundamental importance of the rule of law and fairness in our courts, and that those things are at stake in Ohio, making the 2026 Ohio Supreme Court race critical.
