Ohio law requires each county board of elections to perform a post-election audit after every statewide election. According to the Clermont County Board of Elections, its audit for the May 5 primary — which involved going back and counting actual ballots — showed that Clermont’s official election results were 100% accurate. Congratulations, BOE!
Despite audit results like these, two voter ID measures passed in the last two weeks before the legislative summer recess:
- S.J.R. 10 is a constitutional amendment that will ask Ohioans if photo ID should be shown to vote (which is already state law). Read more about S.J.R. 10 here. This will appear on the November ballot.
- H.B. 472 would require a photocopy of an ID in order to vote by mail. It would become effective in November 2027. You can learn more here. It will go to Governor DeWine’s desk for his signature. The Ohio Voter Rights Coalition has made it easy to email Gov. DeWine with your veto request.
