The levy and why it’s needed
The Children’s Protective Services (CPS) levy lost by 109 votes in the 2025 election. With our help, this critical levy renewal and small increase in funding — the same proposal as last fall — can cross the finish line on May 5.
CPS is mandated by law to investigate allegations of abuse and neglect. It provides education, treatment, services, and support to families, while ensuring the care and protection of those children who are placed into foster homes or residential facilities. CPS’s current funding is insufficient to cover the current cost (more than $6.5 million/year) for these placements.
The proposed levy renewal with a 0.2 mill increase will cost a household with a $100,000 valuation an additional $6.99 per year. Funds from this levy will be used solely to pay for “the support of Children Services and the care and placement of children” per Ohio Revised Code.
How this affects your tax bill and how to help it pass
Not all voters in Clermont County will see the same levies on their ballot. Levies depend on the school district, township, municipality, or service district where you live. Find out exactly how much the proposed levy will cost you through this link to the Clermont County Auditor’s Office. You can learn more about the levy and how to get involved here.
