2024 was a busy year and Clermont Dems are building the foundation for a strong local party. Election day was undeniably tough, but Clermont bucked a few statewide trends. It is significant that Clermont County is one of only three counties in Ohio where:

  • Trump failed to make gains;
  • Harris votes outperformed Biden’s 2020 numbers; and
  • Sherrod Brown picked up 10,000 more votes than he had when he ran six years ago.

Best of all, we now have a handful of blue precincts! The Clermont Red does, indeed, fade.

In April, CCDP elected a new team of officers, we moved the office from Batavia to Eastgate, and we got to work. This year we set five goals surrounding candidates, volunteer engagement, voter outreach, fundraising and communications. While our work to achieve these goals will be ongoing, we made significant strides in 2024:

Local Candidates from Congress to Recorder gave voters a choice at the ballot box for the first time in decades. Several statewide candidates came to Clermont including Senator Sherrod Brown who was impressed with our turnout, organization, and enthusiasm.

The Communication Committee revamped the webpage which resulted in a boost in traffic and reworked the newsletter. We will continue to make improvements here and with social media.

Fundraising improved. Many, many thanks to our monthly donors who help stabilize our budget. We could not do it without you! Our fundraiser, Democracy is Sweet, was a big success.

Voter outreach efforts reached record numbers this year. We knocked significantly more doors than ever before. Placed a record number of signs in the community, hosted meet and greets for two townships and a group in Batavia is hosting weekly gatherings. We attend community events and local government meetings. And we met a lot of folks at the Clermont County Fair while in our newly painted building.

Volunteer engagement rose in 2024 as we canvassed for candidates, enjoyed record meeting attendance, and staffed the office. Volunteers wrote thousands of postcards, covered the polls for both election day and early voting. Together we met a lot of new friends and are building an enduring network.
