Finish implementing the Fair School Funding Plan, which would ensure the state is finally complying with the constitution. The current GOP proposed budget rips off public schools to the tune of $2 billion, and proposes a phony refund plan that penalizes schools for being frugal. Click here for a great synopsis. Remove provision that kills the Ohio Election Commission The Ohio House’s version of the budget would eliminate the independent group charged with enforcing state campaign finance laws. With the Commission gone, those duties would fall to the Secretary of State and county boards of elections. Read more here. Oppose Ohio version of SAVE Act – SB 153, which is similar to the federal SAVE Act that just passed in the U.S. House (but awaits debate in the Senate), which requires proof of citizenship to register or re-register to vote.
