Focusing on what we can control makes a difference locally, and ultimately influences statewide politics. This fall, CCDP is focused on three areas:
- Electing good local candidates. There are numerous candidates running strong campaigns in non-partisan races. They need our volunteer time and our votes. Get in touch and we will connect you to a campaign. This fall we will elect 2 township trustees, 4 village/city council members and 3 school board members. These are the people who decide on development, street repairs, zoning, and the health of school districts. This is how we build our bench.
- Building our war chest. Funds enable voter outreach and support campaigns. Next year is a big election year and CCDP must have funds for social media, flyers, signs and events. Giving is not about making a donation; it is about making a difference. Be a part of the team, contribute via Act Blue.
- Recruiting candidates for 2026. It is imperative that we have strong candidates running for every office. In Clermont, the following are up for election: state representative for both district 62 (Schmidt) and 63 (Bird), county commissioner, county auditor, and judges. Candidates must declare by February 4, 2026. If we don’t run, we will be forever protesting our eroding rights and watching our democracy collapse. If you are considering running for office, let’s talk.
In solidarity,
Patty Lawrence
