Three Ohio Supreme Court seats will be on November’s ballot. Currently, Republicans hold a 4-3 majority. If Democrats win all three races, it will become a 4-3 Democratic court. If Republicans win all three races, it becomes a 6-1 Republican court.

The Ohio Supreme Court will decide about gerrymandering and reproductive rights. So it is vital that we work to reelect Justices Michael Donnelly and Melody Stewart and elect Judge Lisa Forbes.

Supreme Court candidates go head-to-head with their opponents and this year, for the first time, are partisan races. Placing Ds and Rs by judicial names is the GOP’s response to Democrats gaining two seats in 2020. This year dirty politics continue.

In December of 2022, Governor DeWine appointed Joe Deters to the court despite the fact that Deters has zero judicial experience. With that appointment, they made a deal. When Deters had to run for office this year, he agreed not to go after the seat that he currently holds, but instead filed to run against Melody Stewart, the court’s only black woman. It is a blatant move to oust a Democrat and eliminate diversity on the court.

The GOP wants to stack the court to subvert the will of Ohioans.  If you are as outraged by this as I am, DO SOMETHING. Attend the CCDP fundraiser and meet Judge Forbes in person. Get a yard sign. Educate your friends. Write a postcard. Come canvass with us.

We won’t go back.
