An article in the February 6 Columbus Dispatch provides a profile of a candidate running in the US Senate primary election. The article indicates that the candidate confirmed his conservative credentials, stating that his work in the legislature to cut taxes and expand school choice is more than enough proof of his conservative credentials.
It is sad that school privatization, which is antithetical to the Ohio legislature’s constitutional responsibility to secure a thorough and efficient system of common schools, essentially follows party lines. Time was when liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans, focused on the state’s constitutional responsibility to secure a thorough and efficient system of common schools.
