Raymond,
The Ohio Scoop is your weekly political fix, filled with the most up-to-date information about Ohio Democrats and everything happening on the campaign trail here in Ohio. We’re here so you can get your political scoop, all in one place.
If you’re new to the list, welcome. You were added because you are one of Ohio Democrats’ best supporters. For those of you who are returning, welcome back.
We need to fill you in on everything that happened this week, so let’s jump right in.
WE WON(‘T GO BACK)
On Tuesday night Ohio voters defeated Issue One, keeping power in the hands of the people, not politicians. |
|
Defeating Issue One was an important victory for our state, the voters of Ohio and the principle of majority rule. Ohio Democrats were proud to play our part in stopping this political power grab by out-of-touch politicians at the statehouse.
THANK YOU to everyone receiving this email who knocked doors, made calls, and donated. With your help, we knocked on a total of 243,392 doors, made more than 1,000,000 phone calls to voters and recruited 2,300 volunteers to defeat Issue One.
We could not have done this without you, and we are so happy to be celebrating this victory with all of you! |
|
|
Defeating Issue One was step TWO in Ohio Democrats’ plans to win back Ohio and codify abortion in the Ohio Constitution, after we collected 117,000 signatures to put abortion rights on the ballot this November. Now, we shift gears to the November 7, 2023 election.
Over the next 88 days, we’ll continue working to move our state forward and to protect abortion rights. Together, we’ll tell corrupt politicians trying to strip away our freedoms and pass a total abortion ban: WE WON’T GO BACK. |

Frank LaRose is Ohio’s Biggest Loser
|
|
|
Ohio Republicans have been seen floundering since their poorly thought out Issue One went down in flames.
While some have tried to ride out the loss, Senate President Huffman complained that there wasn’t enough time to plan the campaign. I wonder who planned this election and set the date?! (It was the Ohio Legislature.)
Meanwhile, Frank LaRose threw himself under the bus by intentionally becoming “the face of” State Issue 1. And on Tuesday, he became Ohio’s biggest loser. |
|
|
Do you see what we did there? LaRose….a loser? Pretty good, huh?
LaRose made multiple mistakes in the run-up to the August 8th election – sending the wrong ballot language out to voters days before the absentee ballot deadline, sending the wrong election date to poll workers, and admitting that State Issue 1 is “100%” about abortion. LaRose’s mistake “frustrated” Republicans who have said that the messaging around State Issue 1 was “horrific.”
AND, LaRose doubled down the day after Election Day, pledging to support a national abortion ban with no exceptions for rape or incest if elected to the Senate. Even though 58% of Ohioans support protecting reproductive rights. LaRose also admits that, if elected to the Senate, he would ignore and even overturn the will of Ohioans who support protecting abortion access.
This isn’t the person we want in the Senate representing us, and Ohio Democrats are committed to |
