We thought we would take some time this week to check in on our GOP Senate Primary hopefuls.
First up, Loser LaRose.
Following a humiliating 14-point defeat of Issue 1 in August, LaRose sat down with WCMH’s Colleen Marshall last week and was called out over and over again for lying to Ohioans about State Issue 1 and the upcoming amendment to protect abortion rights.
LaRose took a leap when he made the decision to make himself the face of Issue 1 in August, and is now left searching for a new campaign message.
In case he needed a reminder, our Comms Director stopped by the Ohio Republican Party with a gift for LaRose this week. |
|
|
LaRose isn’t just facing criticism from Ohio Democrats, but from Republicans across the board for his mishandling of the Issue.
One of LaRose’s main critics is Bernie Millionaire Moreno, our next Senate hopeful.
Moreno has been critical of Loser LaRose from the beginning of August’s Issue 1 campaign, and now says that Issue’s failure is a “preview of what would happen with Frank LaRose at the top of the ticket in 2024.”
When Moreno isn’t busy criticizing LaRose, he can be found bowing down to Donald Trump on social media. Today, Moreno released his “Five Point Plan” to fight back against Trump’s recent indictment, one of which includes impeaching Joe Biden?! |

Meanwhile Millionaire Matt Dolan is off somewhere spending a lot of money to do not a whole lot for his campaign.
A report from Cleveland.com this week shows that Millionaire Dolan has a “cheap loan”, valued between $5-$25 million, to fund his Senate campaign. What’s more is the loan has a staggeringly low interest rate of 0.832%, a rate far lower than the average 30-year fixed mortgage rate and credit card interest rate. |
|
|
Dolan’s reported net worth is between $14.5 and $41 million and he has already loaned himself $4 million to run his sleepy Senate campaign. I guess it pays to be rich! Millionaire Matt is yet another example of wealthy, out-of-touch politicians who want to make rules for and represent everyday Ohioans. |

After a resounding win on August 8th, Ohio Dems are riding the momentum forward to the fight to protect reproductive freedom in November of 2023 and beyond.
To keep the energy going strong into the fall, we will be hosting our inaugural Volunteer Summit on Saturday, September 9th. The Volunteer Summit is an opportunity to meet fellow activists throughout the state, hear from exciting guest speakers who have been doing great organizing work, and gain skills vital to bring our door knocking and phone calling to the next level.
The Volunteer Summit is a key opportunity to refocus and emerge together with clear direction for the long road ahead in the fight to turn Ohio blue. We hope you can join us in Westerville for this event. RSVP below! |

Ohio Democrats are making substantial efforts to reorganize our Coalition. One of our top priorities is to rebuild and strengthen our Caucuses and Constituencies as we implement a new, comprehensive program for our Democratic Organizations.
The Asian American & Pacific Islander Caucus and the Hispanic & Latino Caucus will be meeting virtually next week to discuss program modification and elect new leadership. If you live in Ohio and are interested in joining either caucus, please consider joining these meetings! |
