CALLING ALL CLERMONT COUNTY DEMOCRATS!

We are fast approaching the deadline for filing Precinct Captain Declaration forms. The deadline to file is February 2, 2022 by 4:00 p.m. at the Clermont County Board of Elections.
When you become a Precinct Captain you automatically become a member of the Clermont County Democratic Party Central Committee. As a Central Committee member, your efforts of communication will not only keep the residents of your precinct informed, but will also help the Central Committee and the Party to be aware of upcoming events and activities in the community. Precinct Captains are the voice between the Clermont County Democratic Party and our local neighborhoods. They help to build the Democratic Party at its grass roots.
Precinct Captains run for the position in even years at the spring primary. All 167 precincts in Clermont need one! It’s easy to become a Precinct Captain. There is no filing fee and you do not have to collect signatures. You just fill out the Declaration Form 2-M which you can download here. You then file the form with the Clermont County Board of Elections at 76 S. Riverside Drive, Batavia, OH 45103. Your name will appear on the Democratic primary ballot on May 3, 2022. All you have to do is vote for yourself and you’re in!

OHIO REDISTRICTING COMMISSION APPROVES NEW MAPS ALONG PARTY LINES
Though the second round of boundaries got closer to the state’s 54% Republican to 46% Democratic partisan breakdown than the first set, they still created heavy GOP majorities in both the Ohio House and Ohio Senate: 57 Republican and 42 Democratic House seats and 20 Republican and 13 Democratic Senate seats. Many districts are so closely divided that they could be election toss-ups. READ MORE
OHIO DEMOCRATIC PARTY CHAIR WALTERS ANNOUNCES ACCOUNTABILITY MEASURES, DEMANDS ANSWERS FROM THE DEWINE ADMINISTRATION ON HB6 SCANDAL
Columbus, OH — Today, Ohio Democratic Party (ODP) Chair Elizabeth Walters held a statewide virtual press conference to announce a new round of public records requests as the party demands answers on behalf of Ohio voters about the largest public corruption scandal in state history.
Chair Walters outlined new records the party will seek in an attempt to get answers from the DeWine administration. Most importantly, the Ohio Democratic Party announced next steps if the administration continues to hide and “no comment” its way around the HB 6 scandal, including possible legal action. READ MORE
WORD FROM THE CHAIR – RAYMOND LEMBKEThe deadline to file to run for the Clermont County Democratic Party Central Committee is 4:00 p.m. on February 2, 2022, a week from Wednesday. The first, and most important, thing our new Central Committee will do is meet to re-organize the Party. The Central Committee will elect a Central Committee Chair. They will then caucus by township and city to elect one of their number to represent their township or city on our Executive Committee. Once elected, the Executive Committee will immediately elect its Chair and our other Party officers. READ MORE

UNTHINKABLE: Trauma, Truth, and the Trials of American Democracy by Jamie Raskin, United States Congressman
On December 31, 2020, Tommy Raskin, the only son of Maryland Congressman Jamie Raskin, tragically took his own life after a long struggle with depression. Seven days later on January 6, Congressman Raskin returned to Congress to help certify the 2020 Presidential election results, when violent insurrectionists led by right wing extremist groups stormed the U.S. Capitol hoping to hand four more years of power to President Donald Trump. As our reeling nation mourned the deaths of numerous people and lamented the injuries of more than 140 police officers hurt in the attack, Congressman Raskin, a Constitutional law professor, was called upon to put aside his overwhelming grief—both personal and professional—and lead the impeachment effort against President Trump for inciting the violence. Together this nine-member team of House impeachment managers riveted a nation still in anguish, putting on an unprecedented Senate trial that produced the most bipartisan Presidential impeachment vote in American history. RUN FOR OFFICE IN 2022
We need Democratic candidates to run for Clermont County Commissioner and Clermont County Auditor.
We can’t succeed in beating them unless we know what they’re doing.
Here is a link to videos of the BCC aka Board of County Commissioners. Take some time to review and if you think you can do better as a Clermont County Commissioner please consider running. The deadline to file is February 2, 2022.
Linda Fraley has been Clermont County Auditor since forever. In 2018 Republican Chris Hicks challenged Fraley in the primary. Although Hicks did not win the primary, he lodged a criminal complaint against Fraley in 2018, claiming that the employment of Fraley’s stepson in the auditor’s office violated Ohio law. It’s time for a change in the Auditor’s office. If you think you can do better then please consider running. The filing deadline is February 2, 2022.
We are living in a bizarre time right now. The Republican party are experts at gaslighting and it appears to be working.
Here’s an example from last year’s election. These are the yard signs Claire Corcoran plastered all over the county when she ran and won her seat for Clermont County Commissioner. 
The sheer audacity of the phrase “Vote Republican – Stop the Madness” is stunning since the Republicans have been running the show for decades. It’s time for a change. We can do better. We need you to step up to the challenge.

- Identify what support you’ll need from your team
- Prepare for sharing your decision to run with friends and family

COVID19 IN OHIO
OHIO’S PANDEMIC POLITICS CAST LONG SHADOW OVER OMICRON SURGE
After a severe bout of COVID-19 put him in the ICU and left him with significant respiratory systems, Dr. Emily Amin’s patient had questions about getting vaccinated.
Most of the COVID-19 patients Amin treats at the Wexner Medical Center are either vaccinated but manage an immune-compromising condition, or unvaccinated. In an interview, Amin recounted how it took the recent omicron surge and this patient’s own experience to get him asking questions about whether vaccination made sense for him. READ MORE
