The last few weeks have, again, brought the problems of racism and violence to the forefront in America. The unjustified killing of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer is simply one of the most recent in a long history of incidents in which police improperly used deadly force against black Americans.
The killing of George Floyd justifiably sparked protests around the country and around the world. While there has been some criminal behavior in connection with some protests, there have been numerous instances of grossly excessive use of force and tear gas against peaceful protesters. Protests in support of Black Lives Matter have also been met with private citizens who falsely believe they have a right to intimidate and assault people expressing views with which they disagree. No one who engages in such conduct can legitimately claim to be a patriot. The Clermont County Democratic Party applauds those who have peacefully protested against racism and violence in Bethel, in Milford, and throughout Southwestern Ohio.
The Clermont County Democratic Party recognizes that racism is an ongoing and deeply ingrained problem in our nation, our state, and our county. We also recognize that some persons of note in our nation seek to divide Americans against each other for their personal benefit and, as a result, we are more divided today than at any time in the last 50 years. The Clermont County Democratic Party therefore re-commits itself to the following principles:
1. Racism in any form is intolerable.
2. Violence must be eradicated from our society, whether it be violence against someone because of their race, gender, sexual orientation, or political views; violence for personal gain; or random violence.
3. All Americans have a right to protest and express their views on public issues peacefully without fear of hostile action from the government or private citizens.
4. Law enforcement has a necessary role in our society, not as warriors but to serve and protect all members of our society.

It’s time again for Quin-T Democrat Club to do an Adopt-A-Highway! Calling volunteers. All are welcome to join Quin-T on Sunday, June 28th in New Richmond to clean up our adopted mile on US52.
Whether you love New Richmond, are a dedicated environmentalist or just hate garbage please come help us clean up the highway. We will meet at 10:00 AM on Sunday, June 28th in the IGA parking lot then shuttle to the clean up location.
The only requirements are:
Signing a Release Form (contact Donna Hermann)

Wearing sensible clothes(a hat, gloves and long pants)
We provide safety vests and will have grabbers for those who may need them. We will be wearing masks and practicing social distancing. Hope you can join us! It’s fun, as well as performing a wonderful Civic Duty. We will be taking pictures and posting them on our website and social media.

Join the National Democratic Training Committee on Wednesday June 17th from 8-9pm EST for a free virtual live training on “How Build and Engage Your Volunteer Community Online”. Whether you’re running for office, working on a campaign, or building your local party’s or organization’s infrastructure, you need to connect with your volunteers. We’re here to help! How can you do this when you can’t meet in person?
During this digital session, our trainer will train on how to make call into a zoom link, helping volunteers goal track, and facilitating debrief sessions and sharing best practices virtually to build community. An email with directions and login information will be sent out by prior to the virtual live training.

We have seen protests over the last few weeks, both locally and nationally, of a scope and magnitude not seen for years. There is, without question, much to protest.
We have seen police officers killing our fellow citizens apparently for no reason other than the color of their skin. The murder of a black man jogging near Brunswick, Georgia a few months ago and Dylan Roof’s murder of nine people in a church in Charleston, South Carolina a few years ago remind us that violence against black people simply because they are black is not exclusively committed by those who wear badges.
