The Royal Oak Country Club’s banquet room was full with more than 110 guests on Saturday evening, May 7th. For the first time, I was a little concerned that we were going to have seats available for everyone in attendance,” said chairman, Dave Lane.

Lane attributed the large turnout to grassroots concerns over political trends on a national, state and local level. “Last November, we saw an unprecedented intensity of interest in working for Democratic ideals in Clermont County. That election didn’t end the way we wanted it to but what has happened since then has undoubtedly convinced many that the current trend must be stopped” Lane added.

Five of the six Democrats vying for the 2nd Congressional seat vacated by Rob Portman attended the Dinner and spoke to the audience. The candidates introducing themselves for the first time in a Clermont County Forum were –

Dr. Victoria Wells Wulsin – Indian Hill

Jeff Sinnard - Anderson

Russel Hurley - Anderson

Charles Sanders - Waynesville

Paul Hackett - Indian Hill

Arthur Katz, a retired attorney from Mason was unable to attend.

In addition to the Congressional candidates, Montgomery County Common Pleas Court Judge A.J. Wagner also spoke. Judge Wagner is a candidate for the Ohio Supreme Court.

Chairman Lane presented the 2005 Golden Donkey Award to Kathy Jones, Deputy Director of the Clermont County Board of Elections.
