PRIMARY ELECTION DAY is Tuesday, March 4, 2008.

THE POLLS IN OHIO ARE OPEN FROM 6:30 A.M. TO 7:30 P.M.

In order to vote in the upcoming election, you must properly complete a voter registration form and it must be postmarked thirty (30) days before an upcoming election to be valid (February 4, 2008)Click Here for Information on Registering.

The laws have changed for Absentee Voting.  Any qualified elector may vote by absentee ballot.  Absentee Voting will help you avoid any of the glitches of voting at the polls.  You have until Noon on March 1st to request an application.  Your application must be at the Clermont County Board of Elections by Noon on March 4th.

Identification Requirements

Voters must bring identification to the polls in order to verify identity.

Identification may include :

  • A current and valid photo identification
  • A military identification that shows the voter’s name and current address
  • A copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document that shows the voter’s name and current address.

(Note: You cannot use as proof of identification a notice that the board of elections mailed to you.) Voters who do not provide one of these documents will still be able to vote by provisional ballot. Voters who do not have any of the above forms of identification, including a social security number, will still be able to vote by signing an affirmation swearing to the voter’s identity under penalty of election falsification and by casting a provisional ballot (click here for more information about provisional ballots).

Voters must bring identification to the polls in order to verify identity. Voters who do not provide one of these documents will still be able to vote by providing the last four digits of the voter's social security number and by casting a provisional ballot.

Voters who do not have any of the above forms of identification, including a social security number, will still be able to vote by signing an affirmation swearing to the voter's identity under penalty of election falsification and by casting a provisional ballot.

(The above requirement is effective June 1, 2006)

Important Dates for March 4, 2008 Primary Election:

*Feb. 4 Deadline for voter registration for primary election (30 days before primary election)

Feb. 8 Primary Election voter absentee ballots must be ready (25 days before primary election)

Feb. 19 Boards of elections shall prepare precinct voter registration lists (14 days before primary election)

Feb. 23 Boards of elections must provide public notice of election (10 days before primary election)

March 1 Applications by mail for absentee ballots for the primary election must be received by the board of elections by noon (three days before primary election)

March 3 Absentee ballots may be requested and voted in person at boards of elections until the close of regular business hours (one day before primary election)

March 3 Amendments to observer appointments must be filed by 4 p.m. (one day before primary election)

March 3 Absentee ballots may be requested and voted in person at boards of elections until the close of regular business hours (one day before primary election)

March 3 Militia on active duty may fi le applications in person for absentee ballots by 4 p.m. (day before primary election)

March 4 Primary Election Day - polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

March 4 Absentee ballots, other than those of overseas and armed service voters, must be received by boards of elections by 7:30 p.m.

March 4 Voter or voter’s minor child hospitalized because of medical emergency, voter may apply for absentee ballot until 3 p.m.

*In some instances, the statutory deadline falls on a day when the offices of the Secretary of State and board of elections are closed. In those instances, the deadlines are extended, pursuant
to R.C. 1.14, to the next succeeding day when the appropriate office is open. The preceding dates reflect the extended deadline.
